Not sure what your organisation needs? Our advisory service gives sports administrators and business owners honest, practical guidance on digital strategy — without trying to sell you a platform.
Too many platforms, not enough clarity
Every sports technology vendor promises they'll transform your organisation. SportLoMo, Friendly Manager, TeamApp, Mindbody, PlayHQ — the options are overwhelming, and they all claim to be the solution for NZ sport.
As a club president, gym owner, or regional sports trust manager, you know your organisation needs better digital tools. But you're not sure whether to buy off-the-shelf, build custom, upgrade what you have, or wait for Sport NZ to roll out something nationally. And the people advising you usually have a product to sell.
Our Advisory service gives you an independent perspective. We assess your organisation, your volunteers' capabilities, your budget, and your goals — then give you a clear recommendation. Sometimes that means working with us. Sometimes it means an existing platform. Sometimes it means doing nothing yet. The advice is honest because it's paid for upfront, not bundled into a sales process.
Sports & Recreation × AdvisoryWhat Advisory includes
Technology assessment
A thorough review of your current tools, systems, and workflows — from member databases and booking systems to social media and communication channels.
Platform evaluation
Independent assessment of sports management platforms relevant to your organisation. No kickbacks, no partnerships — just honest comparison against your actual needs.
Digital roadmap
A prioritised 12-month plan for your digital improvements. What to do first, what can wait, and realistic budget estimates — including potential funding sources from Sport NZ or regional trusts.
Volunteer & staff capability review
Assessment of your team's digital readiness. Recommendations for training, role allocation, or outsourcing based on the realistic capacity of your people.
Implementation guidance
Ongoing advisory sessions to support your team through implementation — whether you build with us, choose an off-the-shelf platform, or manage it internally.
How Advisory works
Initial consultation
A 90-minute session where we understand your organisation, your pain points, and your goals. We've worked with enough NZ sports organisations to ask the right questions from the start.
Research & analysis
We review your current systems, talk to key staff and volunteers, and research the best options for your specific situation — including what other similar organisations in NZ are using successfully.
Recommendations
A clear, written report with prioritised recommendations, budget estimates, and a suggested timeline. Presented to your board or committee with time for questions and discussion.
Ongoing support
Monthly advisory sessions to keep your digital strategy on track as you implement. Available through the season and beyond — for as long as you find it valuable.
What you walk away with
Clarity on direction
A clear, jargon-free understanding of what your organisation needs digitally — and equally important, what it doesn't need yet.
Confident board decisions
Present technology recommendations to your board or committee backed by independent analysis — not a vendor's sales deck.
Realistic budget & funding plan
Honest cost estimates plus guidance on Sport NZ digital capability funding, regional trust grants, and other sources that can offset your investment.
Reduced risk
Avoid expensive mistakes like buying a platform your volunteers won't use, over-committing to annual contracts, or building something that doesn't integrate with national systems.
Frequently asked questions
No. Advisory is an independent service. We frequently recommend off-the-shelf platforms, other providers, or internal capability building when that's the right answer. Many of our advisory clients never become build clients — and that's fine.
Advisory engagements start with a fixed-fee assessment phase. Ongoing monthly advisory is available through our Advisory plan. Some organisations use Sport NZ or regional trust funding to cover advisory costs — we can help identify those opportunities.
Absolutely. We write for sports administrators and club presidents, not IT departments. Every recommendation includes plain-English explanation, business impact, and cost. No jargon, no assumed knowledge.
Many organisations do, but there's no obligation. If you move into a Launch, Grow, or Scale engagement with us, the advisory work directly informs the project — nothing is repeated or wasted.
Yes. We regularly present recommendations to club committees, trust boards, and AGMs. We can prepare board papers, slide decks, or whatever format your governance structure requires.
Yes. We stay across Sport NZ's community sport strategy, digital capability programmes, and regional trust priorities. Our recommendations are always informed by the national direction so you're not building something that conflicts with upcoming initiatives.
